JHI provided civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and control system design
services to integrate two vendor supplied truck tippers into the mill’s existing
chip handling and storage facility. The combination of all engineering disciplines
allowed JHI to provide a wood chip handling system that allowed truck drivers to
use the existing weigh scale card reader system without mill personnel to unload
either hard wood or soft wood that is then transported through a series of conveyors
and transfer chutes to the appropriate silos. The 140,000 pound capacity dual truck
tipper system was designed to unload and convey chips at a rate of one truck every
ten minutes.
JHI also designed a lighting system which afforded 24 hours per day truck unloading
that minimizes light pollution into the adjacent neighborhoods.
